Darkness in Stockholm

Darkness in Stockholm

Universale Carabba

A disturbing story unfolds through fiction and news. In the background, the as yet unclear assassination of Swedish Prime Minister Olof Palme in 1986. The connected events are intertwined with the personal occurrencies of the protagonists Leonard and Nicole. The tone is set by the succession of international intrigue, mysterious murders, travel, erotic tension and historical events of that year. As unfortunately happened in the real life story of Olof Palme, many pages are deliberately 'open', unfinished and enigmatic, in the renewed awareness of the thousands faces of reality. In dark and 'glacial' Stockholm one senses an existential precariousness and a suspended evil, echoes of neo-Nazism are sensed, the presence of deviant secret services is perceived... The Author describes realities, places and characters through blurred and evanescent lenses. The moments of 'literal confrontation' between Leonard and Nicole are nothing more than a desire to overcome the always lurking Evil with Good, an intrinsic part o man, as can be seen from the crescendo of the tension that is perceived towards the end of the book.
